About Us

Sharon is the Managing Partner at our Alamo office and brings over thirty years of experience to the practice. She started off as a Tax Analyst for Chevron Corporation, preparing returns for expatriate executives and conducting high-level audits. From there, she moved on to KPMG, Manager, International Executive Tax Service, heading a team of tax professionals. In 1995, she branched out on her own and formed Alamo Tax Service.

Sharon specializes in audit representation and is a Fellow of the National Tax Practitioners' Institute, the industry's highest designation for audit representation.

Sharon is a Past President of the Alamo Chamber of Commerce. In her free time, you can find her in the French Horn section of the Danville Community Band.

Henry is an Enrolled Agent and the Managing Partner at our Berkeley office. He graduated from Cal in 1991 and started out as a registered representative in the insurance industry, then moved on to Price Waterhouse and Citibank. Henry served as firm Principal of a nationally-ranked Registered Investment Advisor in the East Bay, managing $160M for over ten years. He decided to branch out on his own to offer a combination of tax preparation and fee-only financial planning services under the new Abacus umbrella. Henry specializes in business and estate taxes, fee-based financial planning and estate planning, and investment management services.

Mary has been a tax preparer with Abacus for many years. She specializes in merchant marine tax preparation and helps clients understand and navigate the special rules for people on the move. As a result of her expertise in this area, each tax season she welcomes new merchant marine clients who have been referred by their colleagues. She previously served as a project manager for a computer software firm.

With a bachelor's degree in accounting and 25+ years of experience, Debbie serves as the staff accountant for Abacus and oversees our bookkeeping services. She is a certified QuickBooks^TM ProAdvisor and active member of its professional group, the National Advisor Network. Starting her career doing the books for her husband's truck repair business, Debbie quickly added other clients as an independent bookkeeping contractor and worked several tax seasons with H&R Block. She also worked as an accountant in the public sector and with nonprofits before joining Abacus in 2007. Along with her diverse accounting background and enthusiasm for "cloud computing," Debbie strives to ensure quality customized accounting services for our broad range of clients.
